Philippine Airlines Expands Cebu Hub with New Routes and Increased Flight Frequencies
Philippine Airlines (PAL) revealed on Wednesday its plans to enhance its Cebu network hub by introducing a new Cebu-Catarman route and boosting the frequency of its Cebu-Siargao flights. The expansion aims to improve connectivity and support tourism and business across the region.
Starting March 1, PAL will launch a three-times-weekly service connecting Cebu with Catarman City, the capital of Northern Samar. Known as a major commercial and educational hub in Eastern Visayas, Catarman will now be more accessible to travelers from Cebu and beyond.
In addition to the new route, PAL will increase its Cebu-Siargao flights by adding midmorning services on Wednesdays and Sundays. This expansion will bring the total number of weekly flights between Cebu and Siargao to 18. Siargao, renowned as the Philippines' surfing capital, is celebrated for its pristine beaches, white sand islets, and hidden lagoons, making it a top destination for both local and international tourists.
Rabbi Ang, President of PAL Express, emphasized the airline's commitment to strengthening inter-island connectivity. "We are thrilled to introduce this new route from Cebu to Catarman, providing residents and visitors from Samar with easier access to Cebu, and offering Cebuanos more opportunities to explore Northern Samar. These new services to Catarman and Siargao are part of our ongoing efforts to boost tourism and stimulate economic growth across the islands," Ang stated.
The expansion underscores PAL's dedication to enhancing travel options and supporting the development of key destinations in the Philippines.
