We all believe that love is an emotion, a feeling of butterflies in our stomach - these are exactly what puts this generation and the next in danger of finding and living authentic, genuine, and sincere love because love isn't all the lies we've been fed in movies or novels. At the end of the day, love is a skill. Love is what we do, what we practice every day. Love is consistency. It is the decision that you'll be there for someone - the patience that you will support one with their growth. Love is the acceptance of someone's past, present, or future and the understanding of all the events that led to one person's character or behaviour. Love isn't simply the exhilarating moments that two people share, it's so much more deeper than that. It is the choice to stay no matter the weather. It is the admiration for someone's virtue, not their exterior. It is the admiration for character and not one's perfection because perfection doesn't exist. Love is the act of being there through the best and the worst, it's the promise that you will protect each other from anything opposite all that's good. Love is nurturing and never hurting, it's the silent presence of someone wishing you all the good things life can bring, it's the constant teaching and learning with another human being because it isn't love if there is no growth. It isn't love if one is being held back or one of the two whole loses themselves in another. Love is walking side by side and growing together towards a common pursuit.
